# Grenzland MUD


A MUD is a multi-user text adventure with combat, experience points, levels, and all the rest.

We run a MUD that anybody can reach using `telnet`.

Use `help` to get a ton of help. Use `commands` to get a list of all commands in the mud; `help <command>` gives you help on the command.

Once you have created your character use the exists provided to move around.
`ex` or `exists` lists the exists.

The cardinal directions (`n`, `e`, `s`, `w` or `north`, `east`, `south` and `west`) as well as `u` and `d` or `up` and `down` are very common. Sometimes you have to open a door; use `open door <direction>` to open the door in that direction. In some zones, the doors up/down are named `trapdoor` or similar. You can open these with `open <name>` where you replace `<name>` with trapdoor or moongate or whatever.

`l` or `look` at things.
`take` them.
`wear` them, if they're some sort of armour.
`wield` them, if they're some sort of weapon.
`hold` them, if they are a source of light.

`i` or `inventory` shows the things you carry.
`equip` or `equipment` shows the things you have equipped, like weapons, armor, light sources etc.

When encountering other people, use `say` to speak so that people in the same room can hear you.

Use `holler` to let everybody on the server know.

`gossip` to talk in the gossip channel (same with `auction` and `grats`)

`who` shows the people currently online.

You can band together in groups! Use `help group` to get more info.

## Midgaard

This is the town where you drink water from the fountain, buy bread from the bakery, get weapons and armour, find guildmasters to practice, and so on.

## Newbie area

Go north from the market place, north past the temple, further north until you are outside, then north until you see the small trail going east. Take that trail.

Use `kill monster` to attack, watch your hit-points and `flee` if you're getting close to zero.

When you kill a newbie monster, use `examine corpse` to see what they have and `take all corpse` to take it all. `wear vest` and `wield dagger`, if you get the newbie vest or the glowing dagger. You might also get other loot, of course.
