tmux and irssi

This is the diff between the backup and the current copy.

# tmux and irssi

Grenzland Club has both `tmux` and `irssi`. With these two, you can connect to our [Grenzland chat](chat) and stay online indefinitely, even if you are not logged in to the remote machine.

The `tmux` and `irssi` integration works like this:

1. connect to `grenzland.club` using `ssh` (or `mosh`:  
`ssh`  
Or if your connection is bad):  
`mosh`
1. on `grenzland.club`, start :  
`tmux`
2. within `tmux`, start :  
`irssi`
3. issue the `irssi` command: within `irssi`:  
`/set nick your_name` (p 
Pick thea nickname you want to use).
4. issue the `irssi` command: `/connect -tls grenzland.club 6697`
5. issue the `irssi` command: continue within `irssi`:  
`/connect grenzland`  
This network comes predefined if you're on `grenzland.club`.
5. and finally, still within `irssi`:  
`/join #welcome`

When you're done chatting, you don't quit.
Instead, you *detach* from `tmux` so it continues running in the background, keeping your `irssi` session alive.
It does that even if you close the connection to `grenzland.club`.

To detach from your `tmux` session, press `Ctrl B` (the prefix key) and then press `d` (to detach).
Now you can use `exit` to leave `tmux` and another `exit` to leave `ssh` or `mosh`.

`Ctrl B` is the key reserved for `tmux`. This makes Emacs users sad. 

Later, you want to attach to that `tmux` session again:

1. connect to `grenzland.club` using `ssh` (or `mosh` if your connection is bad)
2. on `grenzland.club`, run `tmux attach` to attach to the running sessions

And you're back!

If you really want to quit your `irssi` session:

1. issue the `irssi` command `/quit`
2. issue the `tmux` command `exit`
3. issue the shell comand `exit` to quit the shell and end `ssh` or `mosh`
