Systemwide scripts
I have added a few very basic system-wide scripts to /usr/local/bin. These include some of the basic commands proposed by the message of the day (/etc/motd). Some of them just provide a more common name for a specific app, e.g. email will start mutt, forums will start tin.
Thinks to keep in mind:
Q: Why not use aliases for this?
A: Users might not use the shell you created the alias for. A user using fish won’t be able to use a bash alias.
Q: Why email and not just mail?
A: Because that already is taken by the program mail. Before setting a new script name better check it won’t reuse the same name a different app uses.
