Dixon's Star
Star System Profile: Dixon’s Star
Dixon’s Star is a stable, mid-lifecycle yellow-dwarf (G-type) star. The system is highly organized and intensely commercialized. It is governed by a patchwork of corporate conglomerates and cooperative planetary boards.
Below is the orbital layout of the Dixon’s Star system, moving outward from the star.
Inner System
1. Perigee-Prime (Planet)
- Type: Tidally locked, metallic-rocky world.
- Description: A hellish planet orbiting dangerously close to the star. One side is a perpetual ocean of molten slag, while the dark side is freezing basalt.
- Function: Rich in heavy heavy elements. Heavily automated corporate mining outposts ride the terminator line, harvesting raw materials to feed the shipyards of Laco.
2. The Hearth Belt (Asteroid Ring)
- Type: Dense, high-density inner asteroid belt.
- Description: A ring of sun-baked, iron-nickel asteroids.
- Function: Serves as a buffer zone. It is patrolled by Public Security automated drones to keep independent corporate miners from illegally cross-drilling staked claims.
Habitable Zone
3. Laco (The Hub World)
- Type: Temperate, Earth-like core world.
- Description: A beautiful planet featuring vast agricultural dome-networks, hyper-managed biosphere reserves, and rolling oceans. It boasts pristine, highly surveyed cities like the Vertex Spires.
- Function: The political and economic anchor of the system. Home to the regional Public Security Expert Systems network and the primary planetary distribution hubs.
4. The Archipelago Moons (Planetesimal Cluster)
- Type: A trio of captured, terraformed micro-planets sharing an orbital sub-resonance behind Laco.
- Description: Known as Oasis-1, Oasis-2, and Oasis-3. They are climate-controlled paradise worlds. They are covered in artificial shallow oceans, tropical chains, and coral archipelagos.
- Function: Elite, high-end resort zones.
Outer System (The Rim & Deep Logistics)
5. Vanguard (Gas Giant)
- Type: Massive, pale-blue helium-methane giant.
- Description: Boasts a violent, beautiful ring system composed of highly pure water-ice and silicates.
- Function: The planetary rings are continuously harvested by bulk freighters.
6. Chiron Cluster (Centaur Objects)
- Type: Unstable, high-eccentricity cluster of icy rock bodies.
- Description: A cluster of planetoids that crosses the orbits of the gas giants on an inclined plane. They are dark, shrouded in methane frost, and largely ignored by corporate sensor nets.
- Function: None (occasional research groups frequent the Chirons, but the long period of the high-eccentricity orbits has dissuaded development).
Deep Periphery (The Veil)
7. The Ledger Rim (Kuiper-style Belt)
- Type: Vast, sparse ring of cometary bodies and frozen debris.
- Description: The absolute edge of the corporate law’s reach.
- Notable Body: Comet K’KOR-7 (The Wanderer): A famous, ultra-long-period comet with a bright, glowing cyan tail of ionized ammonia. It was mapped and claimed a century ago by an early Vrusk survey team, named after the member who discovered its regular orbit. It serves as a navigational beacon for ships jumping out of the system.
