Bio

Bur loves jewelry. Especially old one-of-a-kind jewelry that only he has and everybody else wants. So far he has very little jewelry though. But he intends to do something about that.

Bur is also now pondering the Sortian Philosophy of a certain Priscus Pulka; his religious doubts could be enlightenment? He can sometimes be seen staring at the Sortian Baccalus he brought up from that cleansing pool, wondering what its purpose is.

2026/04/27: Mushroom Forest (5 XP)

Saved a bunch of goblins who got attacked by a giant crab; dealt the killing blow but Grod did most of the work. Goblins (including Gibgib and Futur) on a mission from their king Veskenin? to find some old burial site of a Goblin hero; they got attacked by something that could be a sea troll but who knows; the leader of the expedition Chief Kogel might be around elsewhere, they asked us to help them. Apparently there's a halfling problem named Plumpthorn? that the goblins and Grod share, it's confusing. We withdrew to bind wounds and rest, on the way back out we saw mushroom men and albino apes but avoided fighting.

Next day we went back in with goblins in toe in two boats and headed for the cave where they were attacked; we stopped early to avoid the troll and headed north into a cavern; met some mushroom people who made alien gestures but simply passed us by; up some stairs found a cavern with a bloated ogre corpse (spiked as a warning) and a terrible, bone-marrow-eating evil that hides further to the west. Too scary, we're out! We earned 2 XP.

Apparently the others dragged me along to go carousing after the adventure and I earned another 3 XP for a total of 5 XP.

2026/05/11: Mushroom Forest (8 XP)

Decided to explore the rocky island with the statue: bad idea! Statue looks reptilian, alien. And there are big shadow-stepping salamanders that take a perfect sword hit yet live; we barely got away.

Checked stalagmite cavern, then headed east past some bad guano smell into new territory; found cavern with a deep clear pool of water with a calcified skeleton. I did the diving while the others kept watch; we recovered a bronze club with fancy knotted design, inscribed with strange words; 55 ancient gold pieces; and a watertight container that had a small note in it that Sage translated:

Front: To operate the floating sage, one must slowly and clearly declaim the first principle of epistemology. Back: Dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum. (I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am.)

The Sortians and the Theosophants were at odds philosophically and took that out on each other physically. The Sortians also didn't get along with the Thothians: doubt, renewal, openness not blind faith, tiresome tradition, endless mystery. These are issues!

Headed south-east into cave with skeletons which animated when we tried to remove their heads; Sage scared them off and we got out with three potions and a gem worth 30gp — which we decided to raise our glasses to! We earned 5 XP plus another 3 XP carousing afterwards. Bur leveled.
